The Lightning Ridge Support Group (LRSG) started the first recycling scheme in northwest NSW, collecting bottles and cans to 'Return and Earn' vital funds for the Flying Doctor. In the first year the scheme helped the LRSG raise more than $91,000 for the Flying Doctor.

The RFDS Broken Hill Women's Auxiliary has been raising funds for the Flying Doctor since 1951. Each year they hold a ball and make Christmas puddings to raise funds for the Flying Doctor.
